Company description
What is Clinical Pilates? 'A system of exercises to strengthen and stretch the body and improve tone and posture. It's goal is to achieve a balanced body'. Pilates trains natural, correct, and efficient movement. It requires us to pay attention and tune into our bodies. Joints and muscles work together to create movement. Better bodies result from a better quality of movement. 'Form follows function' Humans may look different, but anatomically we are the same in terms of muscles, bones, and ligaments.
Yet some bodies look better and function better than others, thus with these bodies, the brain delivers better movement information. If your body doesn't function in this way, you should start to learn this awareness, retrain your brain and pay attention to the right movement pattern, and gradually a better body will form. The physiotherapy pilates method is essentially a mind-body technique that emphasises the importance of beginning movement from a centre core of stability. From this centre core, the Pilates method works by adjusting the intensity of each exercise through the use of various limb movements. The physiotherapy pilates method believes that injuries are caused by imbalances in the body and habitual patterns of movement. It has been observed that when a person is weak or has a mal-aligned area, the body over compensates or over develops another area to achieve certain functional movement.
Thus it has been found to be critical to correct the mal-alignment and to re-educate the body to prevent this. Courses Our courses take place in Elland, Queensbury & Cleckheaton and are instructed by a fully qualified Physiotherapy Pilates instructor. Our classes are for 55 minutes and run over 8 weeks. Entrance Assessments Each patient will have a Clinical Pilates assessment & tutorial prior to attending any of the classes. The assessment is important to help us understand any health issues, muscular imbalances, postural type & to make a diagnosis of any injuries.
